Inaugural art auction supporting palliative care locally
A local art auction is now live in support of palliative care and bereavement services in our community.

Near North Palliative Care Network is hosting the ‘April Showers Bring May Flowers Art Auction and Fundraiser’. Lauralea Eldridge, Communications & Public Relations Coordinator, says they put out the call in January for local and regional artists to get involved.
“We ended up with over 75 artists wanting to participate,” she says. “It’s much bigger than we expected for the first year.”

She says 100% of the proceeds from the inaugural event support the services they provide.
“We do caregiver support,” says Eldridge. “We do one-on-one support, we do group supports for both palliative and individuals suffering with grief.”
She says each piece featured in the auction reflects themes of renewal, hope, and connection, coming together to celebrate both creativity and community care.
Auction items include paintings, prints, and so much more.
“We have water colour, acrylic, oil; we have some dream catchers by an Indigenous artist,” says Eldridge. “We have a wonderful individual Todd Harper who does woodworking and he provided us with some one-of-kind, gorgeous lamps.”
She adds with Mother’s and Father’s Day approaching, the auction provides a meaningful way to shop for unique, one-of-a-kind gifts that give back to the community.
The online auction is live at this link, through May 1.
