Johanne Brousseau Files Nomination for North Bay City Council
Johanne Brousseau has officially filed her nomination for North Bay City Council, bringing experience, a strong record of community involvement and a commitment to thoughtful, responsible leadership to the 2026 municipal election.
A former North Bay city councillor, longtime small-business owner and community volunteer, Brousseau says her decision to run comes after many conversations with residents and careful consideration of where she can make a meaningful contribution to the city she has called home throughout her life.
“I believe deeply in North Bay, in the people who live here, the businesses that invest here and the volunteers and organizations that strengthen our community every day,” said Brousseau. “We have so much to build on, and I believe our best days are still ahead of us.”

Over the past four years, Brousseau has remained closely engaged in municipal affairs. She was appointed to the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee and served as Chair of both the Property Standards Committee and the Waste Resource Liaison Committee. She has also continued to attend City Council meetings, listen to residents and stay informed on the decisions shaping North Bay.
She says those conversations have reinforced something important: residents want to feel heard, they want to understand what is happening at City Hall, and they want elected officials who can ask difficult questions, respect different perspectives and still work together to move North Bay forward.
“Leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice at the table or having all the answers,” Brousseau said. “It’s about listening, doing your homework, asking the right questions and being willing to work with people who may not always agree with you.”
Brousseau believes North Bay has tremendous strengths, including its lakes, trails and quality of life, its educational institutions, community organizations, entrepreneurs and established businesses. She believes the city should build on those strengths while planning responsibly for the future.
That includes supporting responsible economic growth, protecting the services and infrastructure residents rely on, and ensuring taxpayers’ dollars are treated with care.
“Every dollar the city spends comes from the people we serve, and that responsibility should never be taken lightly,” Brousseau said. “We need to ask questions, understand the long-term impact of our decisions and make choices based on the common good of our community.”
“North Bay has given me many opportunities to serve, to build a business and to be part of this community. I’m ready to bring my experience, my work ethic and my commitment back to the council table.”
Together, A New Way Forward for North Bay.
