Juno-award winner performing in support of the Canadian Ecology Centre
A couple of fundraising concerts are taking place this week in support of the Canadian Ecology Centre.
Juno-award winning folk singer and playwright Ian Tamblyn is performing Wednesday at the Moon Café in Mattawa, then the next night at the Block Public House in North Bay.
The centre is facing a deficit of $300,000 after being closed since a devastating storm last June.

$50,000 has been raised so far.
The centre reopened with Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park this past weekend.
“We are facing a real financial crisis,” says Bill Steer, General Manager and founder of the CEC concept.” That is why we have initiated the SAVE the CEC campaign. Many people think we are government funded, not so. As a non-profit the accrued operating costs have added up, the contingency has been used up during our closure.”
He says they’re excited to bring Tamblyn to the area for this week’s concerts.
“We are appealing to community members to purchase tickets for his small venue concerts or donate to the CEC registered charity,” says Steer.
