“This funding means more students can find paid work close to home this summer,” she says. “The Canada Summer Jobs program is supporting 382 positions across Nipissing and Timiskaming, with 125 local employers taking part. For students, it is a chance to build skills and earn an income. For community organizations and small businesses, it helps meet real staffing needs during a busy season.”

Most of the money, $985,000, is earmarked for Nipissing, while the rest is for Timiskaming.

Across Canada, up to 100,000 CSJ openings will be available for young people between the ages of 15 and 30.

Officials say youth can apply for summer jobs in several fields including the recreation sector, the food industry, marketing or tourism.

They say jobs are also available in high-demand and growing fields, including construction, environmental protection, technology and digital skills.

Local opportunities can be found at the Job Bank website or mobile app.
