Motorcycle Season Prompts Safety Reminder
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) is reminding drivers to make motorcycle safety a priority this long weekend and throughout the riding season.
With warmer weather arriving, more motorcycles are travelling on local roads and highways. Motorcycles are smaller and harder to see than other vehicles, and drivers are reminded to stay alert and share the road safely.

Drivers are reminded to:
- Check blind spots twice before turning or changing lanes
- Leave extra space for motorcyclists
- Stay alert and remove distractions
- Never drive impaired
Motorcyclists are reminded to:
- Wear proper protective gear
- Ride within speed limits
- Ride cautiously and give space to larger vehicles
- Stay visible to other drivers
- Stay alert and never ride impaired
- Inspect your motorcycle before riding
- Adjust your driving to weather and road conditions
The NBPS will also continue proactive traffic enforcement throughout the long weekend, focusing on speeding, impaired driving, seatbelt infractions, distracted driving and aggressive driving.
Anyone who witnesses dangerous or impaired driving is encouraged to contact the NBPS. In an emergency, call 911.
