New affordable housing development downtown
Twenty new affordable housing units are being developed by the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) and City of North Bay.
They’re located at 100 Main Street East.
Once complete, the housing units will be allocated through DNSSAB’s Centralized Waitlist, which matches eligible individuals and households with affordable and rent-geared-to-income housing across the Nipissing District. “This project shows how the city is helping deliver new units and much-needed affordable housing across the community,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “It will add housing in the core of the city and bring more residents into the area, supporting a long-standing effort to strengthen the downtown by encouraging people to live and work there and support nearby businesses.”

Tenants will be able to connect to supports through DNSSAB’s Community Paramedicine program
“Having affordable housing downtown helps people stay connected to the community around them,” said Mark King, DNSSAB Board Chair. “Projects like this support access to services, local businesses, and the social connections that are part of daily life.”
The project is being supported by the federal Housing Accelerator Fund.
DNSSAB says it continues to work with municipal, provincial, and federal partners to support housing developments that respond to local needs and make effective use of available funding.
