Norman, Ivy (née Burns)

Norman, Ivy (née Burns)

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Ivy Norman announces her unexpected passing at Health Sciences North in Sudbury during the early morning hours of June 22, 2026, at the age of 72.

Ivy was predeceased by her parents, Lillian (Keith) Burns and Michael “Mickey” Burns. She leaves behind her twin and best friend, Debbie Botma, and her brother, Michael Burns, who will always carry with them a lifetime of love and the bonds they share.

Ivy’s greatest love was her husband and soulmate of over 50 years, Sam Norman, who will forever cherish their life together and miss her with all his heart. She also leaves behind her sons, Michael (Brandy) and David (Sherry), who will always treasure the love and memories with their mother and the impact she has had on their lives. She was Nanny to Laurin, Arkin, Harrison, and Lenix, and the love they shared brought immense joy to their lives. Her cherished fur baby, Paisley, also held a very special place in her heart.

Ivy will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Botma; Brenda Norman (Denny, predeceased); Diane and Don Grainger; Ray and Carol Norman; Suzanne and Paul Morin; and Rosanne and Tom Tucker, along with her many beloved nieces and nephews.

Ivy graduated from Algonquin Composite/West Ferris Secondary School in 1971 and began her career as a civilian at CFB North Bay shortly thereafter. She dedicated 39½ years of service before retiring in 2010. Throughout her career, Ivy formed many lasting friendships along the way. She was known for her love, generosity, and caring nature, which will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

As per Ivy’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service. There will be a private celebration of life held later this summer.

In memory of Ivy, donations to the North Bay and District Humane Society and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be most appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
