Tanya Vrebosch announces candidacy for North Bay Council

Drive economic growth and strong governance

Long-time community advocate and experienced municipal leader, Tanya Vrebosch has officially announced her candidacy for re-election to North Bay City Council.

Bringing 18 years of municipal experience, Vrebosch’s campaign is anchored by a clear top priority: driving economic growth and expanding North Bay’s commercial footprint, while maintaining fiscal responsibility with a social conscience.

"Growth is the engine that drives everything else in North Bay,” said Vrebosch. “To keep our city vibrant and relieve the pressure on residential taxpayers, City Hall must actively pursue economic development, protect our key strategic assets, and make smart capital investments. My focus is on growing our economy, modernizing municipal operations and building a resilient future for our community.”

Key priorities for Vrebosch’s campaign include:

Economic Growth and Strategic Development: Prioritize commercial growth, support local enterprise, and protect major regional assets, like the airport, to attract investment and create jobs.

Restoring Strong Governance and Fiscal Oversight: Recognizing this term brought unprecedented political challenges, focusing on restoring steady, elected leadership, tightening council spending oversight, and fixing decision-making processes, so City Hall can get back to business and deliver value for taxpayers.

Active Advocacy for Public Health and Safety: Refusing to accept the status quo on mental health and addictions, serving as a loud and unwavering voice demanding proper provincial funding and treatment beds, while partnering with municipal staff to support efficient cleanup protocols that keep our parks, trails and public spaces clean, safe and family-friendly.

Dedicated Health Care Worker Recruitment and Retention: Championing local strategies and provincial partnerships to attract and retain doctors, nurses and health care professionals to ensure North Bay families have reliable access to primary care.

Transparent and Collaborative Leadership: Fostering strong, respectful working relationships across the council table to deliver consistent, accountable results for residents.

Proactive Infrastructure Resilience: Recognizing that extreme weather events and changing environmental conditions are putting unprecedented strain on municipal infrastructure, shifting from costly reactive repairs to proactive, long-term capital planning that gives staff the time and tools to build resilient roads, stormwater systems and other public assets.

Smart Accessibility and Fleet Feasibility: Conducting targeted accessibility audits to guide capital spending, while exploring practical, cost-effective options to optimize transit fleet efficiency, such as evaluating smaller, accessible van options alongside existing infrastructure.

Vrebosch emphasizes that effective governance requires active, accessible representation. Having served nearly two decades on council while balancing a professional career with family caregiving, she brings a practical, real-world perspective to municipal leadership.

“Leadership on council isn’t about sitting behind a desk. It’s about focus, strategic impact and taking responsibility for the decisions we make”. Vrebosch continued, “I am ready to bring my experience, energy and commitment to economic growth back to the council table for North Bay.”
