“Think of Me” Road Safety Campaign

BPS Announces Winning Classes

As part of Canada Road Safety Week (May 12–18, 2026), the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) is pleased to announce the winning classes of the “Think of Me” campaign, an initiative designed to engage elementary students in road safety awareness through creative expression. An initiative that aims to educate children and youth about road safety while encouraging them to help spread important safety messages to drivers and the wider community.

The campaign invited local elementary students to create artwork highlighting traffic safety concerns they have observed or personally experienced. Topics included speeding, seatbelt use, crossing guard safety, tailgating, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and other key road safety issues.

After careful review of submissions based on creativity, diversity of topics, and detail, the winning classes are:

Mme. Delorme’s Grade 2A class from Alliance French Immersion Public School
Ms. Kelly’s Grade 1A and 1B classes from Mapleview Public School
Mme. Gardiner’s Grade 2B class from Alliance French Immersion Public School
Each winning class will receive a prize, along with an opportunity to tour NBPS headquarters and view a police cruiser up close.

“Children have an incredible perspective. They are passengers who grow up to be drivers, and future decision-makers on our roads,” said Sgt. Greg McClenaghan. “Their messages are powerful reminders for all of us to take road safety seriously every time we get behind the wheel.”

Road safety remains a shared responsibility. During Canada Road Safety Week, NBPS is reinforcing key priorities including distracted driving, aggressive driving, speeding, drug and alcohol impaired driving, and seatbelt compliance.

Driving is a privilege, and all road users are encouraged to make safe, responsible choices.

NBPS extends sincere thanks to all students, teachers, and schools who participated in this year’s campaign.

Please drive safely.
